Copies of Masters
There was no teacher I listened to who has not said: The best way to learn painting is to copy the old masters. And that was done by almost all famous painters. If you travel to Europe and go to the painting galleries you will often see a painter there with his easel copying a painting. In Europe these copies are highly paid, here people prefer something genuine, new from a painter. So many times I copied only part of a painting and then invented the rest. Great fun. And I learned a lot.
